What is ISO 9001
Overview
The adoption of a quality management system as stipulated on ISOs, is a strategic decision for a company / organisation that can help to improve its overall performance and provide a sound basis for sustainable development initiatives.
ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, is an independent, non-governmental organization, the members of which are the standards organizations of the 163 member countries.
Use of the standard aids in the creation of products and services that are safe, reliable and of good quality. The standards help businesses increase productivity while minimizing errors and waste. By enabling products from different markets to be directly compared, they facilitate companies in entering new markets and assist in the development of global trade on a fair basis. The standards also serve to safeguard consumers and the end-users of products and services, ensuring that certified products conform to the minimum standards set internationally.
The QMS must be tailored to the needs of your company and the product or service you provide, but the ISO 9002 standard provides a set of guidelines to help make sure that you do not miss any important elements that a QMS needs to be successful.
Why is ISO 9001 Important
ISO 9001:2015 an internationally recognised standard for creating, implementing and maintaining a Quality Management System for any company / organisation.
It is intended to be used by organisations of any size or industry, and can be used by any company.
As an international standard, it is recognised as the basis for any company to create a system to ensure customer satisfaction and improvement, and as such, many companies demand this as the minimum requirement for an organization to be a supplier.
The ISO Quality management principles are:-
Registered with the following boards:- Accountants (SAICA), Auditors (IRBA), Tax Practitioners (SARS), Risk & Strategy Management (IRMSA)
How We Can Help Your Company / Organisation
Our organization handles the development of the system, aiming towards compliance and certification, thus getting you audit ready. We do not do the certification ourselves as we are not allowed to “mark our own homework”.
The potential benefits to an organisation of implementing a quality management system based on the use of ISOs are:-
a. the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements,
b. facilitating opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction,
c. addressing risks and opportunities associated with its context and objectives,
d. the ability to demonstrate conformity to specified quality management requirements.
We emphasis to our valued clients that its of paramount importance for them to employ a process approach, which incorporates the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and risk based thinking. Planning of organisation processes and their interactions is key.
The PDCA Cycle enables an organisation to ensure that its processes are adequately resourced and managed, and that opportunities for improvement are determined and acted on. Risk-based thinking enables an organisation to determine the factors that could cause its processes and its quality management system to deviate from the planned results, to put in place preventative controls to minimise negative effects and to make maximum use of opportunities as they arise.
Quality Management Compliance and Certifications Assistance
ISO 9001:2015 Compliance Readiness (Quality Management System Compliance)
HLCA Inc. handles the development of the system, aiming towards compliance and certification, thus getting you audit ready. We do not do the certification ourselves as we are not allowed to “mark our own homework”. The certification body we mostly make use of is SABS, as brand identification is good. If you see SABS, you see quality.
The Certification bodies like SABS require 6 months of running statistics, which is why we usually sign a 6 month contract with our clients to develop the system and ensure correct implementation.
During this time we, with your input, develop the ISO 9001:2015 system for you. If everything runs according to plan, we then audit you in month 5 or 6 to determine whether your system is audit ready.
